Bernadette attended Southside High School, graduating with the Class of 1968. During her summers, she worked as a lifeguard, embodying both responsibility and care even at a young age. She also spent time helping at her parents’ pizzeria, the famous Danna Pizza and Subs in Elmira, where she especially loved the soft serve ice cream. She went on to attend Brockport College, where she earned multiple degrees, including her teaching degree and one in psychology.
She dedicated over 30 years to teaching in the Rochester City School District, touching countless lives at Jefferson, Charlotte, and Number 9 and Number 6 Schools. She developed educational programs that are still in use today, reflecting her vision and commitment to helping students succeed. She was a teacher not only in the classroom but in life, guiding generations of children and inspiring them to grow. Even in retirement, she continued mentoring, supporting her former students and their children, right up until the final months of her life.

Bernadette met Michael Lee, and they married, building a family together. They had five beautiful children: Tucsonn, Tate, Elann, Shina, and Tullenn. As a mother, she gave unconditional love, the kind of love that nurtured, encouraged, and inspired. Fun, quirky, and full of life, she shared countless special moments with her children—from concerts ranging from NSYNC to Jay-Z and OutKast, to trips to California and New Orleans, and summers spent by the lake. She always encouraged her children to follow their dreams, no matter how far or challenging they seemed.
She was also a proud grandmother to Xander, who she loved so deeply. Being a grandmother was the added gift to her life, bringing her endless joy and fulfillment.

Bernadette was a beautiful woman, inside and out. Her piercing blue eyes, golden blonde hair, and radiant smile reflected her vibrant spirit. She was strong, witty, and full of love for life. More than anything, she was giving—an amazing mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend who always put others before herself. Her sarcasm, humor, and warmth brought joy to everyone around her. She was a protector and a guide, always reminding others that through faith in God, all obstacles could be overcome.

Her unwavering dedication, compassion, and wisdom left a lasting mark on everyone she encountered. She devoted her life to helping others reach their fullest potential, and her love, guidance, and generosity continue to live on in the countless lives she touched. She was a flower in full bloom, leaving behind seeds of hope, strength, and kindness for others to carry forward.
